A 10-year-old blended malt from Douglas Laing, made with whiskies produced across all of Scotland, created to celebrate the indie bottler's 70th anniversary. Aromas of orange boiled sweets, liquorice, toast with honey and driftwood fill the nose, and the palate offers notes of butterscotch, peppery peat smoke, chocolate buttons and brown sugar. The label features the characters from Douglas Laing's regional malts, including Big Peat, the Scallywag, the Timorous Beastie, the Epicurean, the Rock Oyster and the spider from the Gauldrons, and part of the tube it comes with twists so that you can make them swap heads.
On the nose, anticipate a sweet buttery biscuit quality with honeycomb, developing to rock pools and a slightly salty / seaweed tang. The moth coating palate delivers milk chocolate alongside orange zest, vanilla'd oak, then comes gentle peat with smoked bacon. The lingering finish bring stewed fruits and mocha, balanced by candied lemon rind, black pepper and malted barley.
