MORTLACH 12 Year Old The Wee Witchie. The entry point of the Mortlach range, combining both ex-bourbon- and ex-sherry-matured whisky to balance the distillery’s traditionally weighty, dried fruit character against fresh fruit and vanilla notes.
The result is a success, combining the best of both of these worlds while still showing off the meaty Mortlach spirit.
The ninth release in Diageo's Game of Thrones Collection, Six Kingdoms is a 15-year-old Mortlach single malt, matured in a combination of first-fill oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks.
This single malt Scotch Whisky is inspired by the iconic and rewarding first bottling of the 16 year old released in 1992. It has been matured in only Sherry casks to impart rich, fruity and fragrant notes atop the beasty complexity synonymous with Mortlach.
A selection of our very best Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been matured for a minimum of 20 years to tame “The Beast of Dufftown” into smooth submission and mellow complexity. It is a whisky that would have made the great Alexander Cowie proud.
The oldest expression from the 2014 release of Mortlach single malt Scotch whiskies is their 25 Year Old. Mortlach use whisky matured mostly in refill American oak casks, aged for a quarter of a century before bottling the whisky into these remarkably designed bottles. Along with the Rare Old, the 18 Year Old and the travel retail exclusive Special Strength, there's now a handsome selection of Mortlach single malts to enjoy - quite a contrast to years previous, when official bottlings were few and far between.
Importers and entrepreneurs, the founders of Oban distillery would have approved of the Spanish influence brought to bear with this edition’s second maturation in Montilla Fino cask wood finish.
The third limited-edition release of Octomore Ten in an incredibly complex single malt. Incorporating whisky aged for 10 years in casks that previously held port, cognac and bourbon as well as virgin oak casks this single malt has a deep, rich character. The nose holds aromas of chocolate, tobacco and bonfire smoke, with a sweet undercurrent of vanilla and custard. The palate is warm and spicy, with strong notes of mulled wine and tobacco, as well as lashings of peat smoke throughout. The finish is driven by flavours of oak and vanilla, with a lingering hint of smoke.
Made using barley grown in a single field, in a single year, at Octomore farm, less than a mile from Bruichladdich, and matured entirely on Islay, and even bottled on the island, Octomore 10.3 offers a profile firmly rooted in terroir, supporting the weight of its 114ppm phenol count. Aged in ex-bourbon casks for six years, it offers aromas of earthy peat smoke, lemon drops, thyme, sea salt, vanilla and fudge, with a sharp, medicinal edge. The palate offers notes of salt, honey and lemon, developing pear, gooseberry and oak atop a backdrop of heavy peat smoke.
The effect of virgin oak on whisky can be dramatic. Head Distiller Adam Hannett must balance the immense sensory force of the raw wood whilst retaining the subtle complexity of the Octomore spirit. The solution demands a complex cask management system. Although all of the spirit in Octomore 08.4 is eight years old just 20% has been held full-term in virgin oak. 80% was originally introduced to American oak, first-fill ex-Bourbon casks, before being transferred into the European virgin oak that had previously held Octomore 07.4.
Octomore 09.1 questions the fundamentals of superior single malt Scotch. Confident in its five year age statement, our Head Distiller demonstrates how a focus on raw ingredients and considered distillation can definitively debunk the myth that older is better. Distilled in 2012 from 100% Scottish barley, the 09.1 is matured full-term in top-tier ex-American whiskey casks.

A 2006 Aultmore single malt from indie bottler Douglas Laing, matured in a single refill hogshead for 14 years, before being bottled in October 2020 as part of its Old Particular series. Rich aromas of toffee, Christmas pudding, Chantilly cream and dried fruits fill the nose, complemented by notes of honey-glazed nuts, pecan pie, vanilla custard and orange zest throughout the palate.
A deliciously sweet 10 year old BenRiach single malt, independently bottled by Douglas Laing for the Old Particular range. This one was distilled in December 2008 and left to age in a refill hogshead until December 2018, when it was bottled at 48.4% ABV with an outturn of 370 bottles.
